Yet, in monetary terms, Russia retail volume sales in 2020 through the online marketplaces amounted to 245 million rubles.
“In monetary terms, sales of animal drugs through online marketplaces rose by 3 times compared with the same period in 2020. Sales made through online marketplaces have decreased in physical terms. Sales of drugs in minimum dosage units (MDU) increased by 2.5 times. Totally, 5.1 million of minimum dosage units have been sold through online marketplaces.
In 2021, the total number of animal drug manufacturers that sold their products through online marketplaces reached 87. This figure has not changed much compared to 84 in 2020.
Analysts said that MSD remains to be the market leader in the segment, which sales have seen a 4.4 fold increase in rubles.
“The corporation is selling 12 brands of animal drugs online. However, the MSD’s Bravecto attributed to more than 90% of sales,” experts pointed out.
Another leader of online sales is Beaphar. Over the year, online sales of veterinary drugs produced by Beaphar have risen by 6.6 times. “This increase in sales was mostly attributed to the sales of repellent collars Beaphar Bio for kittens and cats, as well as for puppies and dogs,” added RNC Pharma.
According to experts, the largest animal medicines manufacturers in Russia are Agrovetzashchita (a 3.9 fold sales increase) and Ekoprom (a 3.2 fold sales increase).
Agrovetzashchita's Chetyre s khvostikom (annual retail sales of the product through marketplaces grew by more than 22 times) and Bars (retail sales grew by 2.6 times) achieved the highest growth rate in the marketplaces.
The Ekoprom’s repellents Chistotel (a 9.6 fold sales increase) and GreenFort (a 9.8 fold sales increase) reached the highest growth rate in online sales.
