“According to the results of the recent survey, from January to November 2021, the retail sales volumes of veterinary drugs through the largest Russian online marketplaces reached 673.3 million rubles. (in retail prices, including VAT). Compared with the same period last year, the total sales volumes of animal drugs grew by 3.2 times,” the report says.
It is clarified that the survey reported online sales on Ozon, Sber Eapteka, Wildberries.
Over the last 11 months, the share of total retail sales of animal drugs through online marketplaces reached 3.5%, whereas a year earlier, the online sales accounted for no more than 1.2%, analysts added.
Sales of animal drugs made through online marketplaces also increased in physical terms, however, not as much as in monetary terms. From January to November 2021, compared with the same period last year, sales of drugs in minimum dosage units (MDU) increased by 2.7 times. Totally, over the last 11 months in 2021, there have been sold 4.7 million of minimum dosage units through online marketplaces.
Analysts noted that the demand for online sales of animal drugs also depends on the season, as for offline sales.
