The Rosselkhoznadzor recently engaged in discussions with representatives from the Department of Veterinary Services (DVS) of the Ministry of Agriculture of Malaysia, the Department of Islamic Development (JAKIM), and the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA), addressing a range of issues, including the one mentioned above.
“During the meeting, the parties expressed satisfaction with the finalization of the approval process for a veterinary certificate allowing the export of beef and beef offal from Russia to Malaysia,” the statement said. Audits of Russian beef and dairy production facilities by inspectors from DVS and JAKIM are scheduled for July-August.
“In addition, Rosselkhoznadzor and Malaysian colleagues expressed their willingness to speed up the negotiations on the export of Russian poultry,” the service adds.
The service has also coordinated a visit from a foreign delegation to the Tatarstan office of the Federal Center for Animal Health under the Rosselkhoznadzor (FSBI ARRIAH). During the visit, the institution showcased its ability to deal with non-compliance issues by analyzing the component composition of halal products, particularly through DNA determination of prohibited components. Foreign counterparts commended the laboratory infrastructure and the expertise of its staff, expressing confidence “that shipments to Malaysia will exclusively comprise premium-quality halal products.”
Artem Daushev, the Assistant to the Head of Rosselkhoznadzor, provided Malaysian representatives with an overview of the fundamental principles of regionalization and compartmentalization in Russia. He emphasized the efficient operation of the FSIS ‘VetIS’ system, which ensures traceability of regulated goods at all stages of production.
Consequently, both parties affirmed their interest in advancing research and technological cooperation in combating animal diseases. They also reached an agreement on arranging an exchange visit for Russian representatives to Malaysian competent authorities in the near future.
