Ministry of Agriculture calls for amendments to meat inspection procedures

New regions will be assigned codes for veterinary marking of meat and other products resulting from slaughtering. These amendments are described in a draft order of the Ministry of Agriculture, which is available for discussion on regulation.gov.ru.

“The purpose of the proposed adjustment is the need to authorize new regions of the Russian Federation (RF) to carry out veterinary marking of meat and other products resulting from slaughtering, and authorizing the new regions to carry out marking on an equal basis with other RF regions, aiming at integration of the new constituent entities into the legal system of the Russian Federation”, a summary report for the document says.

The new regions are to be assigned the following codes:

  • DPR – 82;
  • LPR – 83;
  • Zaporozhye region – 84;
  • Kherson region – 85.

Reminder: the new rules for veterinary examination of meat, set by the order of the Ministry of Agriculture No.269 entered into force on September 1, 2022, excluding 2 points, relating to the slaughter of poultry. According to veterinary professionals, the amount of inspections increased due to the new rules, which will contribute to the safety of products supplied to consumers.
