The document was published on the portal for regulatory legal acts. The law will come into force on September 1, 2024, with the exception of one provision that will take effect later, on March 1, 2026.
The new law establishes requirements for the import of breeding animals, their semen, and embryos. Therefore, a conclusion will be required to prove that the animals and their semen and embryos are indeed breeding products. The Ministry of Agriculture will establish the mode and procedure for issuing such conclusions. A separate document will be issued for each batch of imported breeding products.
In order to import breeding cattle, each animal will need to have an individual identification number.
Furthermore, imported breeding animals, along with their semen and embryos, will require a breeding certificate. Additionally, in order to mitigate the risk of transmitting hazardous genetic diseases, a molecular genetic analysis of semen and embryos will be mandatory.
