“The approval of the appropriate veterinary certificate and certification of Russian producers will be the final step to opening the Chinese market for pork imports. According to the agreement with the Chinese side, the supplies are expected to start in a month after the protocol is signed,” specified the Service.
The process of getting Russian pork into the Chinese market involved several stages. The Rosselkhoznadzor officials have been working diligently over the past few months to align with the Chinese requirements related to the control of African swine fever and risk management, the Rosselkhoznadzor stated.
The Chinese government has lifted all temporary restrictions on African swine fever that have been in place for Russia since 2008. In December, the representatives of the General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China visited Russia to assess the potential exporter’s facilities, as reminded by the Rosselhoznadzor.
