The corresponding decision of the Russian Government has been published on the official Internet portal for legal information.
More than 30 producers are to take part in the experiment, TASS reports with reference to the press service of the Center for the Development of Advanced Technologies (CRPT), which is a labeling operator. Among those willing to join the project are the Meridian company, the Diana fishery company (part of the Russian Caviar House), the Sokra plant, the Rybstandard, and other companies.
According to TASS, the experiment will not require any investments from the businesses. The companies will be provided with the labeling codes free of charge, Revaz Yusupov, Deputy General Director of the CRPT, was quoted as saying. According to him, the labeling will not have any impact on the consumer price of caviar.
Labeling and the Mercury information system of Rosselkhoznadzor are aimed at helping reveal cases of illegal caviar circulation, which will be possible due to each can’s traceability from the factory to the buyer, the report says.
