“Intervet GesmbH (Austria) suspended the supplies of Bravecto in 2022. The drug has not been authorized for commercial marketing in Russia, and its sale is prohibited by Russian legislation. The quality and safety of this animal health product are unconfirmed,” Rosselkhoznadzor said in a statement.
According to an earlier investigation conducted by Veterinary Medicine and Life, Bravecto is available for purchase at online marketplaces, but only under a label printed in a foreign language.
Rosselkhoznadzor experts have provided guidance on how to identify counterfeit veterinary drugs. “Pay attention to the package labels; they must be printed in the Russian language. Otherwise, it is a counterfeit product that may pose a health risk to your pet,” the service’s specialists warned.
The list of drugs authorized for sale in Russia is available on the official website of the Rosselkhoznadzor in the section “Commercial marketing of medicinal products for veterinary use”.
“If you happen to come across an online sale of counterfeit medicinal products for veterinary use (especially those being promoted by individuals lacking a pharmaceutical license or displaying labels in foreign languages), we strongly advise you to promptly reach out to Roskomnadzor and complete the provided form, or get in touch with Rosselkhoznadzor,” said the service.
