Organic production to be allowed for self-employed

Vladimir Kashin, deputy of the lower house, together with a group of senators presented a draft law to State Duma, proposing to provide self-employed farmers with access to the Russian organic food market.

“For individuals who don’t have the private entrepreneur status, it is impossible to provide data, and therefore to be included in the register for organic food manufacturers,” says the explanatory note.

At the same time, according to the authors of the document, the major part of honey and bee products are produced by self-employed farmers, as well as wild plant pickers.

The proposed draft law is aimed at eliminating legal gaps. According to the document, self-employed individuals should be provided with the equal opportunity to certify their organic production and to be included in the register for organic food manufacturers.
