Animals to be registered
The new law introduces mandatory registration only for dogs. Cats and other pets are registered at the request of their owners. A unique code will be given to each pet at registration, and the data will be added to the Moscow region pet registry.
Pet registration fees and location
Pets are registered free of charge. To register a pet, its owner has to contact any national vet clinic in the Moscow region, a list of which is available at the regional Ministry of Food and Agriculture website.
Applications for registration can be submitted online using the regional public service. The owner is given the opportunity to choose a convenient time and date for visiting a veterinarian.
Things to bring
On a vet visit, the owner has to bring his own passport, his pet’s veterinary passport containing records on rabies vaccination (if any), and the animal itself.
Registration procedure
If the animal has already been microchipped, the veterinarian will be able to read the information from it. If there is no chip, it will be implanted at the owner’s expense and according to the price list of the vet clinic.
After that, a picture of the animal will be taken and added to the registry. A dog that doesn’t have a microchip can’t be registered.
The data to be added to the database
The registry will contain information on the animal’s species, gender, breed, color, name, date of birth, and identification code. Besides that, the pet’s photo will be uploaded, as well as information on vaccination, address, and owner.
