The Russian Ministry of Agriculture has forecast agricultural exports for 2022

The Ministry of Agriculture of Russia forecasts the Russian food exports at $35 billion by the end of 2021. It is expected that supplies in the next year are projected at no less than $30 billion. This was announced to the Russian State Duma by Dmitry Patrushev, the Minister of Agriculture.

“In 2021, Russian food supplies to the foreign markets are predicted to be worth $35 billion. This is due to the increase of the world prices,” said the minister.

According to Dmitry Patrushev, a significant export growth of livestock products has been achieved due to recognition of Russia as free of the foot and mouth disease (FMD) without vaccination. It must be noted that this zone includes 52 Russian regions. Additionally, in May this year, two zones “Sakhalin” and “South” were officially recognized by the OIE as free of FMD with vaccination.

“This recent move will help Russia to gain access to such promising exports markets as Japan, South Korea, Singapore and the Philippines,” noted the minister. He added that Russia has currently been exporting agricultural products to 161 countries. “We continue to expand our network of agribusiness attachés around the world. This year, 31 representatives have been nominated as agricultural attachés by the Ministry of Agriculture. Next year they will start their role as attachés at 50 overseas posts,” Dmitry Patrushev concluded.

Yuri Kovalev, the General Director of the National Pig Union said earlier that it is important to gain access to the Philippine market in order to supply Russian pork. The Philippines annual import volumes total 450,000 tons of pork products. This market is looking promising given the expected pork production growth in Russia in the coming years.
