A corresponding draft order has been published by ministry on regulation.gov.ru.
According to the document, this year, the permitted volume of whey imported into Russia will stand at 3,361 tons. A year earlier, the ministry allowed imports of 2,000 tons of whey.
The second draft order will set out the procedure for confirmation of the intended use of whey. Whey importers must submit all supporting documentation to the ministry by June 1, 2022. The application must be accompanied by information on the importing company, whey name, the estimated import volume, information on the supplier, the contract and the certificate of state registration of product. The application will be considered within two weeks after the registration. Upon approval of application, the importer will receive a confirmation for the intended use of product. Following a confirmation, the importer will be permitted to import whey into the Russian Federation until December 31, 2022.
In addition, the manufacturer will have until February 1, 2022 to provide the ministry with data on whey volumes produced from the imported whey.
As a reminder, the major world’s whey powder producers are France, Italy and Germany. Russia imposed trade embargo on whey imports from these countries. Every year the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia approves the import volumes of products permitted to be imported into Russia.
