The document is available for public debate in the draft statutory documents section on the ministry’s website. It is planned that the order will come into force from September 1, 2022 and will be valid through September 1, 2028.
Thus, according to the order, the manufacturer of "green" products will be able to label each package with a specific symbol after registering with the national register.
The manufacturer will be granted a certificate of conformity as evidence that the product complies with requirements. The "green" symbol can only be used for labeling if the certificate is valid.
Examples of label designs are listed in the appendix to the order.
The label symbol is a leaf and a palm in a circle. Above is Russian- language inscription "зеленый эталон", below - English-language inscription "green one".
The symbol may be green or black on a white background, or white on a black background.
Earlier, the Ministry of Agriculture developed guidelines for maintaining a national register of manufacturers that produce food products with improved characteristics.
As a reminder, in June 2021, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the law "On agricultural products, raw materials and food with improved characteristics" (No. 159-FZ). The law will come into effect from March 1, 2022. Such "green" products will be produced without using GM seeds and non-ionizing radiation technologies. Unlike organic food production, during the production of "green" products manufacturers are allowed to use intensive, but at the same time maximum safe agricultural technologies.
