Minprirody of Russia will keep a register of unscrupulous game farmers

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of Russia (Minprirody of Russia) will keep a register of unscrupulous game farmers as per new federal law № 164 which became effective December 9, 2021.

Minprirody explained that it will maintain a comprehensive register of game farmers who either unreasonably evaded from conclusion of game management agreements or whose agreements have been terminated.

The list of such game farmers will be published on the official website of Minprirody, the ministry explained.

Agreements with diligent game farmers will be renewed after the expiration of previously signed agreements. This procedure is also established under the new regulation.

In addition, all rights and obligations under the game management agreement can now be transferred to third parties. The replacement of one of the parties in an agreement will be carried out with the consent of the executive authority of the subject of the Russian Federation.

At the same time, Minprirody of Russia was empowered to establish the minimum sizes of hunting grounds that qualify under conclusion of game management agreements.

The quality of activities performed by a game farmer will be assessed by a number of hunting animals which will constitute as the main indicator.

“There have been created conditions that make game farming more attractive to investors, as well as to promote fair competition in the sector,” commented Andrey Filatov, Director of the Department of State Policy and Regulation in Game Management of Minprirody of Russia.
