According to the regional Department of Veterinary Medicine, the ASF outbreak was revealed in pork offal at the meat processing plant LLC TD Kushchevsky, the report says. This is the second outbreak of the virus recorded in the Kushchevsky district. Previously, ASF was revealed in animals at the Impulse plant in the Bolshaya Lopatina hamlet.
Veterinary Medicine and Life earlier reported that two ASF outbreaks had been revealed in other areas of the Krasnodar Territory. The virus was discovered on two pig farms: brigade No. 5 of AO Agrocomplex Firm named after N.I. Tkachev in Novodzherelievskaya village of Bryukhovetsky district and in OOO Steppe ZAO Novosergievskoye in the Krylovsky district.
Thus, 66 ASF outbreaks were revealed in Russia between January 1 and September 4, 2023, including 38 outbreaks in domestic pigs and 28 in wild boar.

African swine fever is a severe, highly contagious viral disease of domestic and wild pigs with a 100% mortality rate. There is no specific treatment for ASF.
Wild hogs are considered to be the dominant (natural) hosts of the ASF virus. Infection causes high fever, vomiting, and bloody diarrhea in wild and domestic pigs.
ASF does not present a threat to public health.
