This was announced by Mikhail Kholodov, the Head of Analytics at FGBI “VGNKI”, during a roundtable discussion devoted to “Russian pet food market conditions and perspectives” held by the Russian Kynological Federation (RKF).

He said that of the 560 imported cat and dog foods from 47 different manufacturers, 381 turned out to be non-compliant.

The violations were revealed in pet food samples from Canada (96,9% of non-compliant samples), Serbia (95.4%), the Netherlands (89.5%), Spain (85.2%), Germany (81.9%), Belgium (73.7%), France (73.5%), Italy (41.9%), Hungary (26.9%).

The expert pointed out that he’s referring to non-compliance with technical regulations of the EAEU regarding animal feed supplies to Russia. The most common among violations is a lack of information on the label about the kinds of variety meats, animal fat, and hydrolyzed flour used in the feed.
