“The experiment was carried out at a production facility near Moscow. The treat is an alcohol-free drink for dogs that contains hops and yeast. In the course of the experiment, a labeling method was applied to a batch of dog beer, and the code was placed on the cap at the Apicenna production facility,” the CRPT said in a statement.

The experiment in pet food labeling was launched in Russia in late December last year, and it will run until August 31, 2024.
“The animal feed labeling experiment is underway, with 15 experiments already completed and 50 still to go. The code application has been tested on eight different animal feed package types, including pouches, soft packages, and doy-packs. In the latest experiment, the code application was successfully tested on glass bottles,” said Yulia Kuzmina, head of the tax-free food products department at the CRPT.
Dog beer by Apicenna, sold under the Schwanz brand (which in German stands for ‘tail’), is prepared from liver broth and contains barley malt concentrate enriched with vitamins and minerals. The company recently also introduced champagne for dogs, Château Dog, which is infused with energizing Eleutherococcus and contains proteins and fats.
