Crustacean production is the same as in 2019, but 15% lower than in 2021.

“The same tendencies are observed in frozen shellfish production, reaching 17,000 tons in the first half of 2022, which is 18% higher than in 2022 but 68.5% and 33% lower than in 2020 and 2021, respectively,” says the report.

According to VARPE, the last 3 years have seen a downward trend in the manufacture of products from frozen aquatic invertebrates. Production volume decreased from 1,700 tons in 2021 to 1,000 tons in 2023. “At the same time, the production of cooked crustacean, shellfish, and other aquatic invertebrate dishes increased by 88% to 1,900 tons compared to 2022,” the report says.

The production volume of canned food and preserves of crustaceans, shellfish, and other marine products remained at the same level as a year earlier.
